The French countryside stands hazy in the background, filling in the edges, softly framing the road that runs like a ribbon thru my memory.

"I will bring her the memory, the one that comes to her every fall, the one she can’t quite place."

I’m not sure outliving them gets any easier, as the years go by, but I can’t imagine life without my companion animals.
