In 1953 and 1954, my family lived in this petit chateau – named Val Beurnon - in a small village in France. After WWII, Americans were still heroes and the owners stepped up to rent to two American  Air Force families. It was an amazing place to spend my early years - from age 2 to almost 5.  And in 2022, I was fortunate to be able to revisit the chateau for 10 days, courtesy of the granddaughter of our old landlords.  I didn’t encounter any old memories or dreams during my visit but I did have a deep sense of familiarity and of being ‘at home’. The chateau was selling and I helped my host sort through decades of her family’s belongings.  They had owned the chateau since 1850.

A photographer’s dream – here I offer a small portion of the hundreds of photos I shot … Val Beurnon in photos.
